“The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The hotel owner made homemade baking available every afternoon. I booked the breakfast on our last morning and this was really nice. The kitchen was well equipped and I enjoyed the fabulous décor throughout the hotel taking me back to my childhood. in the morning the owner played an old vinyl as quiet background music outside the dining room.“

“On arrival we were immediately impressed by the quick friendly service. The communal washing machine had broken down but the receptionist offered to do our laundry in the staff machine and returned it to our rooms within the hour. The room was very clean and the communal kitchen was spotless. Fresh herbs and cakes were available for free for guests. We made use of the bike hire facility available and spent a great day on the Hawke’s Bay trail. Although the motel is outside of the town, it is only a short drive to the centre. For the price you will not be disappointed.“

“During our stay at the lodge we learnt of David Bowie’s passing away and it was great of the Parkside’s staff to pull out their collection of Bowie’s records! We really enjoyed our stay. …. great environment with lovely staff. Highly recommended.

“My husband and I both loved this place. The whole atmosphere is so homely. Nicely decorated rooms, lovely 50ish stuff in the hallway, even a working turntable with LP’s to play. The room has a small fridge and tea and coffee making facility with sugar,tea,coffee and milk provided daily. We were on he ground floor and enjoyed the little courtyard. A very well equipped kitchen with again free tea,coffee, sugar and milk. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We recommend this place and if ever back in Napier will certainly stay here again.“

“Amazing! This hotel is decorated in a nice and summery way, very different from the usual ones. The receptionist is super kind, he explained everything clearly and friendlily. There’s a kitchen downstairs with a coffee machine, where you can get good coffee for free at any time (and some pastry is offered). Really glad to have come across you!“
